This is a pre-order for the wooden Jesse Tree sets!
Each box has a set of 24 wooden ornaments and a corresponding booklet with reflections and readings. The ornaments are made in the UK from FSC certified wood and ultra-low VOC inks. They are UV printed directly onto the wood and are heirloom quality, ready for you to cultivate a beautiful Advent tradition to hand down through the generations. Please note that due to the nature of the wooden surface, some variation and imperfections in the printing will occur.
The sets will be sent out from November. They seem to be very popular so the pre-order is to ensure that we have enough time to order another batch if needed!
This Jesse Tree kit is based on a 24 day design, starting from the 1st December and ending on Christmas Eve. This means that it can be reused each year. Over the 24 days, the Jesse Tree will take you on a journey through Salvation History, from Creation all the way through to the Nativity of the Lord. Learn about biblical figures including Jacob, Moses, Esther and Solomon, reading their stories and how they point to Christ.
The Jesse Tree as an artistic concept has been around since the middle ages, where it was a popular custom in large homes to have a piece of artwork depicting the family lineage of Jesus, featuring imagery of the Stump of Jesse. Back in that time, when status and social class were more important than they are today, the Royal lineage of Jesus was greatly emphasised. The Jesse Tree as an Advent practice has only existed since the latter half of the 20th Century but has its roots in this much older artistic trend. The Jesse Tree leads you through Salvation History, starting with Creation, going through the Old Testament and culminating in the birth of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
Please note that the set doesn’t include a tree to hang the decorations on. A bundle of branches tied in a vase works very well for this tradition and is free!
